Giving Massages to Loved Ones Relieves Stress

Christine Webb, Health and Fitness Report
A soothing massage can help you unwind after a hard day at work.
Research has shown massage has many health benefits, including alleviating stress, but you don't need to go to an expert to get a good massage.
Not everyone can afford a massage. That's why Eli Akotia, a massage therapist, offered these tips on what you can do for your loved one if they are in need of a stress reliever.
"Just make sure you warm up the tissue before grabbing the skin and muscle," Akotia said. "You might cause pain."
Three tips to keep in mind:
Warm up the tissue.
Use nice, long strokes.
Use lotion.
"Then grab harder and harder, and then squeeze and roll up the skin," Akotia added.
Besides being a great stress reliever, there are more reasons to consider giving your loved one a massage.
It can also cause the body to release natural painkillers, and it boosts your immune system.
"It's good pain management and relaxation, and relieves anxiety," Akotia said.
Getting a massage is generally safe, but it may not be right for everyone under certain health conditions. So if you do have any questions, it's best to always consult with your doctor.
